St. Louis - April 1, 2009 - Missourians United for Life is speaking out today about DIRECTV's "Get Youthenized!" television ad hoping it will help raise awareness and opposition to euthanasia groups and doctors who kill seniors and the disabled.
In its ad campaign, DIRECTV has depicted its competitors as being out of touch and lacking common sense. In one of the ads, a fake competing company's executive, played by comedic actor John Michael Higgins, suggests "Get Youthenized!" as a positive slogan for the company. Missourians United for Life said it hopes the ad has the indirect effect of helping viewers recognize there is nothing positive about euthanizing seniors, the disabled, the sick or any other person, and that those who promote or commit this murder are out of touch.
"While we do not believe it was their intention, Missourians United for Life is pleased that the takeaway from the DIRECTV ad is that anyone associating with the word 'euthanasia' in a positive way is absolutely out of touch and lacking common sense," said Ed Martin, President of Missourians United for Life. "Unfortunately, there are groups who actually want to 'euthanize America.' Killers like the euthanasia group FINAL EXIT who prey on our seniors and those suffering from diseases or a disability. These euthanasia killers exploit the vulnerable and weak. Missourians United for Life hopes that in some way this ad raises awareness that euthanasia is wrong and those who promote it or commit it should be viewed as out of touch with the value of life and the right to life."
Recently, Missourians United for Life examined information promoted by the euthanasia group FINAL EXIT to find their efforts to expand to every community in America.
